US indices open mixed, Nasdaq on decline

Gold above key level of $1,800 per ounce

ANKARA

US stocks opened mixed on Friday, with Nasdaq diving into negative territory.

The Dow Jones rose 133 points, or 0.37%, to 35,736 at 9.52 a.m. EDT.

The S&P 500, however, was down 2 points, or 0.05%, to 4,547 as it retreated from its record high, and was facing to end its 7-day winning streak.

The Nasdaq was down 70 points, or 0.46%, to 15,147.

The yield on 10-year US Treasury notes was down 0.1% to climb to 1.673%, while the dollar index fell 0.2% to 93.59.

The VIX volatility index, known as the fear index, was flat at 15.01.

Oil prices reversed course to end their losing streak, and rose around 1%. International benchmark Brent crude was trading at $85.42, and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate was at $83.36.

Precious metals were on the rise with gold adding 1.4% to $1,808 per ounce, and silver increasing 2.3% to $24.72.

After hitting an all-time high of $67,000 Wednesday, Bitcoin was trading at $62,400 with a 3.6% loss.
