Spain's foreign minister on Monday assured that Madrid "will continue to do everything in its power" to support Ukraine amid the ongoing war between Kyiv and Moscow.

Avoiding to say whether the country is going to deliver Patriot air defense systems to Kyiv, Jose Manuel Albares told reporters ahead of an EU Foreign Ministers Council meeting: "I have never been a big fan of explaining, of giving too many explanations of what happens, when it happens, where it happens."

"Spain has previously provided anti-aircraft defenses and will certainly continue to do everything in its power so that Ukrainians can defend their freedom, their democracy, and all those innocent civilians who are dying under bombardments every day," he continued.

He noted that Spain and its allies are "very well aware" of Ukraine's need for aerial defense.

The minister said that he and other ministers will discuss "the best way" to support Ukraine in its defense of its freedom and democracy in today's meeting.
