Macron thanked Erdogan for signing the Zero Waste initiative with the UN, which is a prominent step in fighting climate change.

Following the meeting, Erdogan, for her part, thanked Macron on Twitter by saying the two first ladies agreed that they will stand together in fighting climate change.

In a separate meeting, Erdogan met the Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Maimunah Mohd Sharif.
