MOSCOW

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden have started a video call, the Kremlin announced on Tuesday.

The critical meeting comes as tensions escalate over Ukraine with Russian military's buildup near its neighbor's border.

The video of the first minutes of the meeting will be published on the presidential website soon, the Kremlin press service said.

Beside tensions around Ukraine, Putin and Biden are expected to discuss NATO's advance to the Russian borders, and Moscow's demand to provide guarantees about the alliance's non-expansion, and implementation of the agreements reached during the Geneva summit in June.
