Reigning MVP Jokic's monster game carries Nuggets to 130-128 win over Clippers
Serbian star scores 49 points, takes 14 rebounds, makes 10 assists to make impact for victory in Denver
NBA's reigning MVP Nikola Jokic played a key role in the Denver Nuggets' 130-128 win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.
Jokic, 26, scored 49 points, took 14 rebounds, and made 10 assists to have a crucial impact on the Nuggets' overtime victory in Denver's Ball Arena.
The Clippers were leading the game 114-112 after Reggie Jackson hit a driving floating jump shot in the paint.
With 26.9 seconds remaining to the buzzer in the fourth quarter, Nuggets' Will Barton scored a driving layup to tie the game.
The regular time was 114-114, so overtime decided the winner.
Jokic fed his teammate Aaron Gordon as the 26-year-old power forward hit a tiebreaking three-pointer from sideline with 1.7 seconds left in the overtime, 130-127.
Then Clippers' Luke Kennard scored a free throw after a technical foul to make it 128-130.
Not much time left for the Clippers as the visitors had to rush after Kennard's score. Jackson had the ball to make a half-court shot for a final chance, but he missed it.
So the Nuggets were the victors by 130-128.
In addition to Jokic, Gordon racked up 28 points for Denver.
The Clippers were led by Ivica Zubac, who bagged 32 points.
The Croatian center grabbed 10 rebounds as well.
LA Clippers point guard Jackson tallied 28 points and 12 assists.
The Nuggets are in the sixth spot in the Western Conference with 23 wins and 20 losses.
Meanwhile another team from West, Clippers are going 22-24 to come ninth in standings.
