After Sunday's matches in football, Manchester City won the 2022 English Premier League title, and AC Milan became the Italian champions, their first Serie A title since 2011.

Germany's Bayern Munich, France's Paris Saint-Germain, and Spanish club Real Madrid have already won league titles each in their leagues. But the English and Italian winners were named on Sunday.

Man City, who were battling second-place Liverpool for this season's English title, completed a 3-2 comeback against Aston Villa at home.

Substitute Ilkay Gundogan - Manchester City's German midfielder of Turkish origin - displayed an efficient performance, scoring two goals in the minutes of 76 and 81 at the Etihad Stadium.

Having 93 points in 38 matches, Man City were crowned the English champions, ending the 2021-22 season a point ahead of Liverpool.

Liverpool beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 at the Anfield Stadium, but the Reds ended the Premier League in the second spot.

Meanwhile, Burnley were relegated to the Championship division after losing to Newcastle United 2-1 at home.

Burnley had 35 points to come 18th in the league. So they will play in a lower division next season.

Norwich City and Watford have already been relegated.

Leeds United, who were feeling the heat of relegation, stayed in the Premier League as they toppled Brentford 2-1 on Sunday.

Seventeenth place Leeds survived, having 38 points after the Brentford win.

Milan secure 1st Italian league title in 11 years

On Sunday, AC Milan bagged their first Italian Serie A title since 2011.

Milan visited Sassuolo to take a 3-0 win, which meant Rossoneri won the 2022 Serie A title.

French forward Olivier Giroud inspired Milan to score twice in Reggio Emilia.

Milan had 86 points to be the champions.

Meanwhile, archrivals Inter Milan were two points behind Milan.

Called the Nerazzurri, Inter beat Sampdoria 3-0 in the Serie A's final fixture.

Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 40, won his fifth Italian league title, two with Milan.

The Swedish international returned to Milan in 2020.

Cagliari, who were 18th in the league, drew with Venezia 0-0 to be relegated to Serie B.

Venezia have already been relegated.

Nineteenth in the standings, Genoa will also play in the second-tier Italian league next season.
