BELGRADE, Serbia

Hungary will allow Serbia to store natural gas in its storage facilities for next winter, the Hungarian foreign minister said on Wednesday.

"We have more than six billion cubic meters of natural gas storage capacity and we will leave a part of that to Serbia, in order to provide a sufficient amount of gas for the winter period ... I am convinced that we will sign agreements based on today's negotiations very soon," Peter Szijjarto said after his meeting with Serbia's Finance Minister Sinisa Mali.

"We guarantee each other transit lines for energy transport," Sijarto said.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is expected to speak over the phone with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss gas supply to Serbia.

Matters pertaining to the price and quantity of gas, and security of its supplies are expected to be discussed during the phone call this week.
