English Premier League side Everton on Monday announced the signing of James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.

'Everton have signed Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez from Real Madrid on a two-year deal, with a Club option for a third season,' the club said in a statement.

The Colombian international said he was glad to join Everton.

'I am really, really happy to be at this great club, a club with so much history, and here with a manager who knows me really well,” James told Everton's website.

'I'm looking forward to achieving great things here – and winning things, which is what everyone's aim is.

“I've come here to try to improve, to get better. I've also come here to help the team to win, to play good football – entertaining football.'

James has played for prominent European clubs such as Porto, Monaco, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, scoring 104 goals in 388 matches during his club career.

He has lifted eight leagues titles in four countries in addition to two Champions League trophies with Real Madrid.

The 29-year-old midfielder also helped Porto win a Europa League title in 2011.
