62 foreign nationals held for illegally entering Turkey
53 Afghan, 6 Pakistani, 3 Bangladeshi nationals held in capital Ankara
At least 62 foreign nationals determined to have entered Turkey through illegal means were held in the capital Ankara, a security source said on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, police stopped a bus carrying foreign nationals, said the source on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
It was determined that 53 Afghan, six Pakistani and three Bangladeshi nationals on board the bus had entered the country through illegal means.
Three suspected human smugglers were also arrested.
It has been learned that the suspects are in police custody and that deportation procedures for the foreign nationals have also been initiated.
